New DMV Flashcards App Coming Soon

We’ve had a lot of positive feedback on the flashcard feature we implemented for road signs. Who doesn’t like flashcards for study? They’re simple, effective, and fun if you can get a group of friends or family together.

With that idea we’ve developed an entirely new app to help driving students prepare for the permit or driver license test, appropriately named DMV Flashcards. It was developed using the same test questions and answers database used in other DMV Prep products, so you know it’s proven.

It should be available for download early next week, baring any snags with Apple’s approval process. We’ve got a very good track record with Apple regarding approvals and haven’t had any issues for 7 or 8 months. The price is just $2.99 for all 50 states.

Update: DMV Flashcards has been released on the App Store and is available for download [link]. Check it out!

DMV Prep Version 1.0.6 Rolled Out

A minor update to DMV Test Prep for the iPhone is being shipped to Apple which addresses a nuisance issue. In version 1.0.6 the Cheat Sheet feature has been renamed to Sneak Peek. That’s it. But the implications are significant.

DMV Test Prep is a serious study tool. Our use of “Cheat Sheet” for the feature which lets students get a peek at our practice questions has led some to think it’s some kind of crib sheet. Well, it’s not. And frankly, we don’t want to help put unsafe drivers on the road. Therefore, this feature is now called what it really is, a sneak peek at the practice questions.

Road Sign Flashcards Released

road-sign-flashcard1All localized editions of DMV Test Prep (coming soon to All 50 States) now include road sign flashcards. This is an update we’ve been wanting to do for some time but have been so busy getting out essential features that we just couldn’t get to it.

Well, here it is and the results are even better than we anticipated. Flashcards are an ideal way to study road signs. After comparing this with our old multiple-choice study system we’re wondering why we didn’t do it this way in the first place. Flashcards make you think, improving retention. Multiple-choice facilitates guessing at answers.

We think you’ll like the update, free as always.

Cheat Sheet Rollout is Complete

In v1.0.4 of DMV Test Prep we added cheat sheets to the list of study tools available. This popular iPhone app has helped thousands to prepare for their driver’s license test. As we continue to improve the overall quality of the app we also continue to add new features. Cheat sheets is just one of the many upcoming innovations to help you study quickly and effectively.

We refer to 1.0.4 as a rollout because there isn’t one, but fifty (50) apps we must update, one for each state. That’s quite a task and we’ve been working on this for weeks. We were thrilled today to build out the last state. Now we begin shipping those updates to Apple, where approvals should start coming in about two weeks.

Flashcards Coming to DMV Prep

dmv-flashcardsFlashcards are a great way to study and test your knowledge. DMV Test Prep apps already come with multiple-choice practice tests, and with cheat sheets. But flashcards really stress your mind because if you don’t know the answer it’s difficult to guess correctly.

In our continuing effort to improve our products flashcards have been added to DMV Test Prep – All 50 States edition and submitted to Apple for approval. This upgrade is free to existing users and the price will remain the same for new customers. Note: flashcards will not be included with the DMV Test Prep series of localized apps, only in the premium All 50 States edition.

Moreover, we’ll be releasing a new app called DMV Flashcards™ in the next few days. More details to come…

Cheat Sheets — New for DMV Test Prep

dmv-cheatsheetOur DMV Test Prep apps for the iPhone have always had a Preview feature which let you take a look at the practice questions before using the exam simulator. We’ve taken that feature, enhanced it and given it the new name of Cheat Sheets.

Cheat Sheets offers a sneak peak at the driver’s license practice questions.

Here’s what’s new…

Cheat Sheets for DMV Test Prep cleans up the nonsensical preview questions. For example, previously if the answer to a question was something like “All of the above.” then Preview would list that as the answer. So you’d get… Q: You may not park? A: All of the above.

In addition, we’ve removed questions from the cheat sheet which may appear to be duplicates but really aren’t. Some of the practice questions are of the same substance but worded differently to challenge your knowledge. On the cheat sheet there will only be one question per concept.

What else is in store for Cheat Sheets?

Once the roll-out for all 50 states is complete we plan to go back and start adding additional features to enhance Cheat Sheets. Some of those features include annotations and printing the cheat sheet directly from your iPhone to a printer attached to your Mac.

Presently, Cheat Sheet versions of DMV Test Prep have been shipped to Apple for California, New York, Texas, Virginia, Alaska and Oregon. We’re expecting to see the updates available for download within two weeks.

Update: Cheat Sheets are now complete for all 50 states and have been shipped to Apple. Already some updated states have become available on the App Store, and all updates should be available by mid-September.

California 2009 [Buy now, $2.99] was one of the first DMV Test Prep driver license practice tests released for the iPhone, and has been very well received. These issues have been addressed and rolled into a new update which has been submitted to Apple for approval.

  • Added 50 new Road Rule questions for a total now of 150.
